MarketingThe Department of Marketing was established at the University of Lancaster in 1965 with the first Professor of Marketing in a UK university. It currently has over 15 members of academic staff and, in addition, there are a number of staff in other departments in the Management School who have interests in particular areas of marketing. The Department has a large undergraduate programme and launched an innovative MSc in Advanced Marketing Management in 2004-2005.The Department has a thriving community of full and part-time doctoral students. Research students not only have access to experienced staff and resources in the University but also contribute to existing programmes of research in the Department.MSc in Advanced Marketing Management12-month full-time programmeThis programme is an advanced Masters in Marketing, with the emphasis on bringing together academic and business excellence in one of the UK's two 6* world-class research centres for business and management. The programme is aimed at candidates with significant academic or work-based experience of marketing, and seeks to enrich and build on existing knowledge as a base for a successful career in industry or the public services or for further research study (PhD).The programme has an emphasis on marketing practice, which enables us to focus on the key problems faced by marketing managers, and to align the course with the sorts of skills and knowledge required by employers. From the outset, you will be gaining real marketing practice while studying the intellectual and knowledge bases of marketing. This will:Enable you to think critically about the application of marketingImprove your abilities to overcome the problems typically associated with the implementation of marketing strategy and programmesDevelop your technical and inter-personal skills that are necessary for marketing management rolesThroughout the programme we use a variety of cases and projects to evaluate the integration of theory and practice in marketing management. Company-based projects are therefore integral to the course and the Department has strong links with international organisations, including Microsoft and Reebok. Many of these organisations form the basis of the cases and projects used on the programme.source: http://www.lums.lancs.ac.uk/departments/Marketing/
